Policyholder Spotlight: Prescriptions to Geaux
TJ and Aimee Woodard, Prescriptions to Geaux
Founded in 2013 by TJ and Aimee Woodard, Prescriptions to Geaux is an independent retail pharmacy based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It began with a small downtown location and a delivery-based model. “It wasn’t long before we had opened our own store,” TJ recalled. “We love it. I couldn’t stand the sterile corporate pharmacy environment, so we built something different.” Today, the pharmacy operates a second location on Perkins Road near Baton Rouge’s Medical District and has relocated its original downtown store to a bustling Mid City neighborhood. Woodard said his customer base has grown largely through word of mouth, particularly from physicians who send their patients looking for a better experience.
“When someone walks through our door, we want them to feel like they matter,” explained TJ. “Our whole goal is to take something that can be cold and complicated and make it easy and human.”
What sets Prescriptions to Geaux apart is its mission of making healthcare personal again. From after-hours help to fast special orders, Woodard and his team pride themselves on doing what the big chains often can’t: offering convenience without compromise. “People assume it will be more expensive to come to us, but we’re often more affordable than the big-box pharmacies. And our patients get to work with someone who really cares.”
That human-first approach also extends to safety—especially for their delivery staff. “We don’t have a lot of traditional risks inside the pharmacy, but our delivery guy rides a bike and has actually been hit before,” said Woodard. “That’s the kind of risk we take seriously, and we try to keep deliveries as safe as we can.”

Woodard’s personal values shape every aspect of the business. “My motto has always been the same: treat people how you’d want someone to treat your grandmother. That’s how we hire. If someone doesn’t believe in that, they don’t belong here—and we’ve had basically no turnover because of it.”
Over the years, Prescriptions to Geaux has weathered significant challenges, from natural disasters to national emergencies. During the 2016 flood that devastated parts of Baton Rouge, Woodard and his team served evacuees at the
Baton Rouge River Center. “Doctors were volunteering after hours at the River Center shelter, and my team worked 12-hour days just trying to take care of people. It was a crazy time,” he recalled. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Prescriptions to Geaux was one of the first local pharmacies to offer the Pfizer vaccine. “We ultimately administered more than 10,000 doses,” said Woodard. “We just wanted to help however we could.”
That sense of community and reliability is what drew Woodard to LUBA Workers’ Comp, with the help of his agent, Eric Troutman with Troutman Insurance.
“Insurance is one of those things you hope you don’t need, but when you do, you want it to work hard for you and be a smooth process. That’s what I like about LUBA. I know this company will be reliable when and if I need to use them for a claim, and I know that I’ll have a real person I can talk to.”
LUBA’s company tagline, “Genuine Dependability,” hits home for Woodard as well. “It reflects how my wife and I try to run our business, too. We’re not a giant corporation. We’re a hometown pharmacy. People today give their loyalty to businesses that offer great relationships and honest service. LUBA gets that.”
Outside of work, Woodard spends time with his wife, Aimee—also a pharmacist—and their three children, Lilly, Lola, and Wesley. In his free time, he enjoys golf, which he now gets to enjoy with his son Wesley. The family travels frequently for concerts and festivals, preferring to give their children “experience gifts” instead of material things. It’s another example of the people-first mentality they bring to both their business and their home life. “Memories and relationships last longer than things,” said Woodard.
With Prescriptions to Geaux, TJ and Aimee Woodard created something truly rare: a pharmacy that feels more like family than business—and a mission that’s all about putting people first.
